Well, that was interesting. A couple of quick things:
1. Does anyone know of any case where anyone has been "arrested for discrimination" (of any sort)? (I'm not talking about crimes (murder, assault, etc.) with a discriminatory motive, or acting "under color of law," i.e., 1983 actions.)
2. By and large, the points made in this article go to show that, under legalized SSM, people who used to live in darkness and secrecy are more likely to "come out" and be open about who they are. That seems like a good thing to me, healthier for everyone involved.
3. I found it fascinating that both of the HS principals in Camenker's town are in SSM's. I wonder if that's just a fluke, or whether there is some disparity in the sexual orientation of talented educators? Which brings me to something I was ruminating on yesterday: it would be if we all could experience, briefly, what our world would be like without gay people. Think about the arts, literature, fashion, social work ...
4. I expect that there were at least a few wedding photographers in the mid-1960s who left the business rather than photograph mixed-race weddings. Some of them may even have had deeply-held religious feelings about the matter.
