not in the UK. The Human Fertilization and Embryology Bill, under consideration in Parliament, will remove existing requirements that IVF clinics consider a child's need for a father, in deciding whether to permit a given client from using IVF treatments.

I personally don't believe in IVF or any other form of conceiving by artificial means, but that aside..EVERY CHILD needs both a mother and a father. Even if the father is only contributing biologically so to speak, the child as well as the mother,should know who the father is for medical history purposes.
