I am responding to your request of comments for "What Dads Do."

My dad was emotionally and physically abusive to both myself, my brother and my mother all through our childhoods. Eventually my mother thankfully summoned the courage to leave him. Divorce can be a good thing!

My father then remarried and when I was grown and pregnant with my daughter told me he was sorry for everything rotten he had done when I was a child and that if I would forgive him he would like to be a part of his grandchild's life. Reluctantly I forgave him.

My father later adopted two little girls. One of which came from Romania severely retarded. Life went along just fine until recently we found out he has been molesting his retarded daughter for the past 2 years!

In a nutshell, dad means nothing to me - dad is dead to me. What more can I say... Please remember when passing on your "values" that divorce can in fact be a very good thing. It probably saved me from being molested. I wish it could have saved my little adopted sister from it. Just and FYI, my stepmother is still married to the pig!
